December Rock Pool
The Lava Rocks that make up Rock Pool at Malibu Creek State Park, were created about 17 million years ago. The Conejo Volcanics of the Santa Monica Mountains began spewing their molten lava over the landscape, and as it cooled, gas bubbles that were trapped in the freshly formed lava formed the characteristic holes, and pockets that we see in the cold hard rock of today.
